Yesterday we saw our very first moose. We consider this a very special event since we spend a good portion of every family day trip and vacation "trying" to see one.
This guy (see the little antler buds) was just hanging out in a little pond by the road in North Conway. He was kind enough to pose for a dozen people to take his picture. Mine are slightly blurry because they were taken from the moving car. We're going to do a page for our nature notebooks later today - I'll share them when they're done.

Diary of a Soccer Mom
I'm pretty sure I will never be a "soccer mom". I can hear someone saying right now "never say never", and I appreciate that, but I really think "never" is applicable in this case - for oh so many reasons. But today the boys and I ventured into that world of youth sports in a small way. We joined the 4th annual Soccer Camp for our homeschool support group. Little guys and gals ages 5 and up were running around, doing drills, scrimmaging (is that a word?) and just having an awesome time. It was a beautiful thing. It is such a joy to be around a big group of homeschooled kids. Of course they are human and do their share of acting like wild animals, but there is something different about this bunch.
Personally this was a big deal for us (me). I didn't play sports as a kid and both of my guys tend to be on the shy side in a group so I was just giddy with pride and joy today. They participated and did their best. They looked out for each other and even held hands a bit - it was priceless. Well, don't take my word for it...
